His name Dr. Angus, originated from the mix up in the shipping, where a cow was suppose to be sent to the lab, but the farmer made the mistake of sending the pig to the lab and the cow to the Pork Chop Shop. Talk about awkward, beef showing up at a Pork Chop Shop. Now Dr. Angus, forever branded with the mark of the BEEF, plots his next big plan to capture the farmer and off the chickens.

Its a farm type story, mad science pig, evil revenge on the farmer and the chickens who plot against him, a story of love between the prize winning cow and the genus Dr. Angus who can never re “veal” his true weakness.

As you may know PNG’s look great on the iphone, although they take up allot of memory when you use allot of frames in your animation. There is the option to use PVRTC/PVR images with the trade off that they dont look so great on the iphone but are very small when it comes to there memory usage. The problem is that Apple tells you in their (Technical Q&A QA1611) to use terminal and their “Texturetool” to process each PNG to the PVRTC/PVR format. This can be a bit of an undertaking when there are tons of frames in your animations.

And as a designer I tend to stay away form potentially blowing up my computer trying some crazy image converting in terminal. And I think I can assume that most designer/animators would. So I thought it might be helpful to build an app that can take care of the process for you and BATCH process the PNG’s to PVRTC/PVR images with a PNG preview for each PVRTC/PVR image.

This converter will batch process all PNG images in the selected folder and output them as PVR images with a PNG preview for each PVR image.

It allows you to create four variants of PVR data, the primary difference being tradeoffs between quality and size.
You will have to experiment with these variants to determine which setting is the best compromise for each individual texture image.

Encoders:

–channel-weighting-linear
–channel-weighting-perceptual
–bits-per-pixel-2
–bits-per-pixel-4

IMPORTANT: Source images for the encoder must satisfy these requirements:
• Height and Width must be a power of 2.
• Must be square (height==width).
• Source images must be .png or .PNG
• There CAN NOT be any spaces in the path to the PNG file or the name of the PNG itself.

BEST PRACTICE:
• Place this app in your Applications folder and create a shortcut to it in your dock.
• Create a folder on your desktop called “Converted” or something without spaces.
• Now place your PNG’s in it “image1.png, image2.png, and so on”.
• Finally run this converter on that folder “Converted”.

WARNING: Valid PVR data is at least 32 bytes in size. This means that images that are 8×8 or smaller will be padded to 32 bytes total before being written to the archive. For example, compressing a 4×4 image consumes 32 bytes, even though it only requires 8 bytes of storage.

Here is an example of the command that is ran in terminal:

Encode Image.png into PVR using linear weights and 4 bpp, and saving the output as Image_L4.pvr and a PNG preview as Image_preview_L4.png

user$ texturetool -m -e PVRTC –channel-weighting-linear –bits-per-pixel-4 -o Image_L4.pvr -p Image_preview_L4.png PATH/TO/THE/IMAGE/Image.png

I found that not only myself but many others have been looking online for various modifications to the default Kubrick wordpress theme. The basic things that I found most wordpress users wanted was a theme that they could customize with there own design’s, mainly the header, links color, and background.

I have included the Photoshop CS3 files so you can modify them to fit your design. I have also used “PNG” image files for there transparency.

I would also like to mention that there is a very cool online application for creating custom background tiles (http://www.bgpatterns.com/)

I just wrapped up the second “Potty Time” animation called “Potty Time with Mr. Potty”. This is a Flash animation that I did with the voice help of my wife Sarah Johnson (who is in the credits of the first Potty Time as Sarah Kreplick, which was created while we were engaged) and my friend James Heirman as Mr. Potty. This is the second “Potty Time” animation and I hope there are more to come.

Purple Wigglies is a Flash animation experiment!

I wanted to try an animation experiment, take the situation where two things meet for the first time, and try to create an interesting and funny conversation about something totally unrelated.

I set the premise for the situation and asked my good friend James Heirman to come up with the dialogue and voice recordings for the two characters. I wanted the conversation to follow these rules/guidelines.

Create two voices for character 1 and 2.

Two things meet for the first time.

Character 1 must say “Hello, I say… there was this…..” (describe the image below)

Character 1 can then only talk about this image that I stumbled upon on google, without saying what it is.

Character 2 replies “well that’s fascinating, so its… ” (describe the image below)

I think this has created an interesting dynamic for coming up with awkwardly funny conversation. I hope to continue this process and release more Purple Wigglies animations in the near future.

That just sounds dirty.. haha

If you control click on the frame or multiple frames and choose “create motion tween” it will assume by default that you want them to be “synced” and this assumption pisses me off.

The way around this is to click on the frame, go to the properties inspector, then click “motion” in the drop down, and un-check the “sync” box if it is checked. This is also a pain in the butt, when working on deeply nested and constantly changing assets.

So I put together this Unsync tween command, which I picked up from Warren over at CHF, download the zip and follow the install directions.

Then every time you want to tween, click “Commands” and “unsync tween”, or Give it a hotkey and you’re all set.

Have fun, and save time

So File Path To Clip worked nice on tiger and Leopard, but not so with Snow Leopard. I did some digging and found this nice little app Copy Path.

Install
Copy the app in “Application” folder or it’s subfolder and restart the Mac.

How to Use
・Open “System preference” > “Keyboard” > “Keyboard shortcut” > “Service” and check “Copy file path”.
・Choose any file on Finder and push right-mouse-button, then a menu “Copy file path” can be shown in context menu.
・By selecting “Copy file path”, the selected file’s file path is copied as text.

System Requirements
MacOSX 10.5.8 or higher.

Function, and Function2 for Snow Leopard, which when ran checks and unchecks the “Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys” check box.

Download the zip, place the “function” application in your applications folder and then drag it to your Dock. Now you just have to click it every time you want to switch back and forth.

The idea behind the Slurps!The Slurps are a group of friendly creatures that derive from the substance found in slurps “a frozen carbonated beverage” and a mixture of other elemental influences!The Slurps include Nugget (a fusion of electro green slurp and outer space dj funk), Mak (a fusion of atomic blue slurp and the levitation powers of the brain freeze), Murph (a fusion of bionic brown slurp and the smelly side effects of “slurping to much to fast”!), and Lola (a fusion of pretty pink slurp with a retro zing!)These little definitions are the drive behind each character’s personality. This toon is top to bottom is all flash! I had Elliott do up the line work on the BG’s and due to time constraints I did all the color work. He gave me some great stuff to work with and I think we made a great team on this project. I recently relocated from New York back to Michigan and for about 90% of this project we had to rely on Instant messenger, to communicate back and forth. It’s an interesting way of dealing with a project, but I can’t think of any problems that we encountered where I felt we had to be working under the same roof. I hope to work with Elliott in the future on some of the other projects I have going on. Thanks for your support.
